Mitchell, SD: Performance Pet Products, a division of Farmers Union Industries, hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on October 16th at 10:00 am at Performance Pet Products in Mitchell, South Dakota for the new expansion that will improve operations by creating added capacity, efficiencies and new capabilities for pet food manufacturing.

The project will expand our current facility by an additional 150,000 square feet. The expansion will provide capacity for increased processing as well as space for new state-of-the-art equipment. This new facility will add innovation to the market place and provide new capabilities to help our customers grow. Our expansion will be able to significantly reduce the use of key natural resources and reduce their overall environmental impact. With this growth, Performance Pet Products will be positioned continually to provide for the increasing demand for our customers’ premium pet food products.

“Today we have a great plan for growth and a great location in Mitchell, South Dakota,” said Dan Hildebrandt, Chief Executive Officer. The level of support from the Mitchell community as well as the state of South Dakota shows their commitment to the economic development for the region.
