Farmers Union Industries Partners with Technology and Trades on the Prairie

In March of 2017, Farmers Union Industries, along with leading businesses in the area, partnered with Technology and Trades on the Prairie to create an organization with the goal to create an awareness among high school students and young adults of career opportunities focused on the technology and trades job sectors in Southwest Minnesota. With this partnership, Technology and Trades on the Prairie can be a part of the larger community effort to improve the future of Southwest Minnesota.

Farmers Union Industries currently employs five different companies in the southwest region of Minnesota. This partnership has provided the means to work together to promote the benefits of working with our companies and living in our region of the state. Technology and Trades on the Prairie also encourages graduating students to remain or return to our area. This organization is a great reference for young adults to directly learn about industries of their interest and speak with professionals in the field. Through the efforts of our partnership, Technology and Trades on the Prairie aims to meet current and future local workforce needs.

To meet those workforce needs Technology and Trades on the Prairie and the companies who have partnered with them are hosting the first annual Career Institute at Harvest Land Cooperative in Morgan, MN. At the Career Institute, students will gain an awareness of the careers in technology and trades in Southwest Minnesota and connect with the area companies offering these careers.

At the 3-day event, students will participate in variety of activities led by professionals in their field ranging from agriculture to health. Hands-on simulation activities will include: electricity circuits, welding, broadcasting, soil science, paramedic emergencies, social media training, flying drones, solar energy, phlebotomy and more!

Registration is still available for the Career Institute on July 18 through July 20. This event is free for 8-12 grade students. Register here.
